I find myself questioning the convenience of the ending. the exact moment the man dies the boy is found by a family and  finds hope again.

    I always like a cheat. Why don't you like the convenience Callum? Has the rest of the novel been such a struggle that the ending doesn't seem to fit the world we've inhabited thus far?
